Position Summary

The Gas and Chemical Systems (GCS) Chemical Process Equipment Engineer role is focused on comprehensively owning, maintaining, supporting, and improving specialty and bulk chemical process operations at Samsung. This role is also responsible for coordinating the startup and commissioning of newly installed equipment and components as well as for ensuring safe and reliable equipment performance during steady state operations.

Here's What You'll be Responsible For:

Equipment Operations

Chemical process equipment engineer will provide technical expertise and ownership for chemical systems, safety and quality standards, and improvements for those systems. They will interact with the operations, maintenance, design and construction teams within Samsung as well as with the chemical equipment vendors to sustain and maintain equipment.Troubleshoot emergent equipment issues and provide technical direction to resolve.Drive continuous improvement projects to improve quality, reliability, safety, and cost savings through optimized process control and monitoring methods, and taking proactive steps to mitigate risks or points of equipment failure that can impact safety and/or quality.Work with maintenance teams to plan and execute preventative, time-based as well as breakdown maintenance to address equipment or component failures or for performance optimization.Communicate and coordinate with Fab Engineering groups to provide technical support, supply and quality issue resolution, and collaboration for improved safety, quality, and system reliability.

New Equipment/Plant Startup

Own the commissioning and startup of new equipment installations through design reviews, equipment inspections, functionality testing, pressure tests, DIW and chemical qualifications, and any code/compliance or design issue resolutionSupport MOCs, PHAs and FMEAs for PSM and RMP covered chemical processes.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's What You'll Bring to Samsung:​

Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering with a minimum of 2+ years of engineering operations experience in the oil & gas, chemical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, fertilizer, food manufacturing or other relevant industries.Develops professional expertise by complying with company policies and proceduresAbility to analyze various sets of operational data, laboratory data and process parameter trends to identify issues or concerning patterns that may require troubleshooting and proactive resolutionAbility to quickly learn and work with various types of software and system  Ability to effectively communicate with customer groups (fab engineering), and other facilities groups (construction, wastewater, EHS, electrical, HVAC etc.), and escalate issues when necessary to leaders
