Position Summary
The Check Processing Clerk is responsible for the accurate handling, processing, and distribution of incoming checks and related documentation. This role supports timely payment application, proper coding, and compliance with internal accounting and mailroom procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in invoicing and vendor payment processes.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, review, and process incoming checks in a timely and accurate manner.Ensure all required attachments and supporting documentation are properly matched and returned with checks via mail, FedEx, or interoffice delivery.Research vendor refund checks to determine appropriate coding, routing, and deposit instructions.Coordinate with accounting and accounts payable teams to resolve discrepancies or missing information.Maintain accurate records of processed checks and related correspondence.Adhere to internal controls, compliance standards, and established mailroom and invoicing procedures.Assist with general mailroom functions as needed, including sorting, tracking, and distributing correspondence.Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience with invoicing, invoice entry, and invoice processingKnowledge of vendor payments and refund handlingMailroom and document handling experienceStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to research and resolve discrepancies independentlyBasic proficiency with accounting or ERP systemsEffective organizational and time-management skillsExperience Level
Intermediate level; prior experience in check processing, accounts payable, invoicing, or a related clerical/accounting support role requiredJob Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Winston Salem, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
