Job Description

Position Overview

The Design Release Engineer for Wheels, Wheel Trim, and Tires will be responsible for leading and executing the component design process in collaboration with the Stellantis supply base and Product Design Studio. This role ensures components meet functional objectives and are delivered on time from concept to vehicle launch. The position also focuses on managing the tire product line for assigned vehicle lines, ensuring performance targets are met, and overseeing the release and validation process.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and execute the design process for wheels, wheel trim, and tires from concept to launch.

Collaborate with the Product Design Studio, suppliers, purchasing, and vehicle teams to ensure fit, form, and function.

Develop source packages and support purchasing in sourcing components.

Establish and execute component, sub-system, and vehicle test plans.

Monitor progress using key process indicators (KPIs) and efficiency metrics (C/W/I).

Manage tire product line-ups for assigned vehicle lines and ensure performance meets targets.

Handle the product release change process and support assembly plants with quality-related issues.

Conduct tire functional benchmarking and report findings, status, and next steps to cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.

3–5 years of experience in automotive component design or release engineering.

Strong understanding of component design processes and validation testing.

Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Knowledge of automotive manufacturing and assembly processes.

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Proficiency in CAD tools and MS Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in wheel, wheel trim, or tire design and release.

Familiarity with Stellantis processes and systems.

Knowledge of tire performance targets and validation methods.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to present technical updates to leadership and cross-functional teams.
