Job Summary

\n

The Chaplain 1 offers spiritual care as part of a holistic team approach. Provides compassionate spiritual and emotional support for all Baylor Scott & White Health patients, family members, and staff, regardless of faith or religious affiliation.

\n

Work Model for this Lakeway PRN Position

\n\n\n

Schedule: 

\n\n\n

Onsite every Wednesday, Daytime 9a - 6p

\n\n\n

From home weekend on-call (Sat/Sun)

\n\n\n

Special pay if not called in

\n\n\n

Time and a half if called in to include set travel pay.

\n\n\n\n\n

Coverage for staff Chaplain on vacation/education time as needed.

\n\n\n\n\n

Essential Functions of the Role

\n\nOrganizes, promotes, and conducts religious services for patients, families, and staff. This includes weekly worship, memorial services, baptisms, weddings, anointing, and coordinating bereavement needs.\nConducts spiritual assessment of patients for spiritual and emotional care.\nProvides emotional and spiritual support as needed for patients, families, and employees.\nFacilitates the end-of-life care for patients and families.\nCollaborates with physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and staff. Works as part of a team to assess patient needs and improve care.\nDevelops relationships with local churches, community agencies and service organizations which supports the Baylor Scott & White Health community.\nConsults closely with staff chaplain or Pastoral Care Director as needed.\nDocuments and maintains records of spiritual counseling for patients.\nProvides assessment and support of palliative care patients in accordance with joint commission requirements.\nFacilitates advance care planning with patients and families.\n\n

Key Success Factors

\n\nKnowledge of philosophical systems and religions.\nKnowledge of the principles and methods of pastoral care and the role of a chaplain in an institutional setting.\nKnowledge of the religious beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominations.\nAble to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing.\nInterpersonal and listening skills.\nSkill in counseling patients, family members and staff.\nAbility to counsel and comfort people during periods of stress.\nDenominational endorsement for chaplaincy, ordination or commissioning to ministry preferred.\nGeneral computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, information security, electronic medical documentation, and email.\nProgress towards Board Certification as a chaplain in APC or NACC is highly encouraged.\n\n

QUALIFICATIONS

\n\nEDUCATION - Bachelor's (Must be a completed Bachelor's)\n\nMaster's of Divinity preferred but not required\n\n\nEXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience\nCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
