Labcorp is seeking a Certifying Scientist to join our team in RTP, NC
Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Job Responsibilities:
Review all test results for applicable screening and confirmatory clinical toxicology testing methodologies, relevant Quality Control data and associated documentationCertify and release results while ensuring that all results meet the appropriate quality standardsUnderstand and apply quality practices and procedures to the review, interpretation and reporting of resultsMonitor chain-of-custody documentation when applicableTake proper remedial action in response to test systems being out of control limits, detect aberrant results of quality control and take appropriate actionProvide consultation and assistance to clients when technical, interpretive, and/or regulatory questions ariseSupport the training of fellow certifying scientists and other employees in the interpretation and reporting of results and applicable departmental processesAdvise/consult with laboratory technical staff regarding routine testing issues and practicesAssist in preparation of litigation packages and affidavits; provide testimony under subpoena when necessaryInteract with inspectors and auditors when appropriate and assist in preparation for inspections and auditsMinimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology2 years or more of pertinent laboratory experience is requiredPreferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a Chemical or Biological Science3 months or more of Certifying Scientist or Toxicology experience6 months or more chromatography and/or mass spectrometry experienceAdditional Job Standards
In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirementsQualify as an NLCP Certifying Scientist in an appropriate time frame Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and proceduresExperience working in a high volume laboratory environmentAbility to work independently and within a team environmentExcellent research and problem resolution skillsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at a given timeProficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systemsHigh level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skillsAbility to handle the physical requirements of the positionAble to pass a standardized color blindness testFlexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needsAt Labcorp we have a passion for helping people live happy and healthy lives.
