Labcorp is seeking a Certifying Scientist to join our team in Houston, TX.
Work Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday, 2:00pm – 10:30pm, some overtime required
Shift: 2nd, this position is eligible for a shift differential
Key Responsibilities:
Perform GC/MS and LC/MS certification in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and supervisor guidance.
Review and interpret all data from screening, SVTs and confirmatory GC/MS and LC/MS chromatographic data and all associated quality control, calibration and instrument data.
Understand and follow quality procedures and protocols for security and confidentiality.
Review and follow chain of custody procedures with accuracy and consistency. Verify accuracy of all chain of custody and specimen documentation and sign where necessary.
Release all results for:
Negative specimens
Negative and Dilute
Rejected Specimens
Positive Drugs
Invalid
Adulterated
Substituted
Positive and Dilute
Retests
Quantitative Results
D & L methamphetamine results
Understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures and protocols as directed.
Understand and comply with all laboratory and safety policies.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Chemical or Biological Science OR Master's degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology with 1 year or more of clinical testing OR Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology with 2 years or more of clinical testing experiencePreferred Qualification
Current or prior Labcorp experience3 months or more of Certifying Scientist or Toxicology experience6 months or more chromatography and/or mass spectrometry experienceAdditional Job Standards
Certifying Scientist and Toxicology experienceIn lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirementsQualify as an NLCP Certifying Scientist in an appropriate time frameUnderstanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and proceduresExperience working in a high volume laboratory environmentAbility to work independently and within a team environmentExcellent research and problem resolution skillsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at a given timeProficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systemsHigh level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skillsAbility to handle the physical requirements of the positionAble to pass a standardized color blindness testFlexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs$5,000 Sign On Bonus (active Labcorp employees not eligible)
