Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Surgery _Bring your passion for Texas Health So We Are Better + Together_ Work location: Texas Health Center of Diagnostics & Surgery, 6020 West Parker Road, Plano, TX 75093 Work hours: PRN/Days; Monday-Friday; Variable shifts Surgery Department Highlights: * Working with a multi-disciplinary team * The opportunity to work with a diverse patient population * The opportunity to work with cutting-edge medical technology and equipment Here's What You Need: * High School Diploma or equivalent and was employe to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009, required or * Other - Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, vocational nurse program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology required upon hire * Other - Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program or graduate, Vocational Nurse Program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology upon hire preferred. * 1-year current operating room experience preferred * CST - Certified Surgical Technologist/ CST (MBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) upon hire required or * CST - Certified Surgical Technologist CST (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009, upon hire required or * CST - Certified Surgical Technologist CST (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology with in 2 years required or * LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse upon hire required and * BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly upon hire required and * A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, acceptable grooming practices and ability to function in a fast-paced, changing environment. What You Will Do: * Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating a plan of care. * Prepare and organize the operating room. * Assists in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes infants, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. * Assists as needed in coordinating patient care peri-operatively. * Assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. * Post-operatively follows proper procedures for the care of instruments, supplies, and equipment under supervision, assists RN circulators with post-operative duties.
