As a Surgical Tech/Scrub Tech you will:

Work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN. Assist surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed.Assist in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms.

**Previous OR Experience required- 1 year minimum**

Day to Day duties:

Scrub on all cases.Primarily, GEN, Urology, Ortho (Totals/ Trauma), Spine, Neuro, Plastics, Oncology, Robotics (DaVinci XI) and Trauma.Penrose specializes in Heart, Vascular surgeries with dedicated service teams for hearts and Vascular only.Associates are cross trained for all other services.Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.Assisting with Room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases.Maintain Sterile field during procedures.Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon’s needs.Maintaining and updating preference cards.


16 OR Suites

Approx. 600+ cases per month


Job Requirements

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

Basic Computer skills required.One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred.Experience in a specialty field preferred.HS Diploma/GED requiredCompletion of an approved Surgical Technician program requiredBLS from the American Heart Association requiredCurrent registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. * A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech requiredCertification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery (CST) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required

Physical Requirements-Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

The Surgery Department at Penrose Hospital has 16 OR suites and performs 30 – 40 cases per day. We specialize in heart, vascular, general, gynecology, urology, ortho, spine, neuro, plastics, robotics, and trauma procedures on adult patients only.
