Job Description:
As a Certified Peer Specialist, the advocates will assist individuals in treatment & help them prepare for regaining community living. This is a great opportunity for individuals with a mental health and/or substance use recovery history. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will assist the individuals by promoting growth, recovery and wellness.
Responsibilities:
Serve as an advocate for the individuals with mental healthAssist with any needed support and information Identify goals with the individualsProvide public information for services, educational opportunities, and vocational skillsCoordinate groups on a weekly basisMeet weekly with the treatment team and monthly internal meetingsEducation: High School
High School Diploma or EquivalentExperience: 6 months
Must have successfully completed a 2 week Department of Human Services or with Mental Health & Substance Abuse programBe a Certified Peer SpecialistCompleted 75 hours of peer trainingPassed the PA Certification Board examThis position requires an additional 18 hours of training each year, 12 of those hours must focus on peer support and/or recovery supportDocumentation skillsIndustry: Health Care and Social Assistance
