Key Responsibilities

Build therapeutic relationships to support recovery and resilience.

Collaborate with individuals to create personalized treatment plans.

Maintain communication with referral sources, guardians, and care teams.

Assist clients in accessing medical and community-based services.

Provide transportation and accompany clients to appointments when appropriate.

Facilitate group education sessions and offer crisis intervention.

Document services in compliance with state and CARF standards.

Support clients in making independent choices and achieving recovery goals.

Encourage healthy, productive, and sober lifestyles.

Mentor, advocate, and coach individuals through their recovery journey.

Uphold ethical and confidentiality standards.

Participate in ongoing professional development and required training.

Qualifications

Must self-identify as a current or former recipient of mental health and/or substance use services, or as a person in recovery.

Minimum one year of direct personal experience with the mental health system.

Willingness to complete a state-approved Certified Peer Support training program within six months of hire.

Must meet standards for CPRS (Certified Peer Recovery Specialist) or CRSS (Certified Recovery Support Specialist).

Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Minimum one (1) year of sustained recovery.
