As a Certified Medical Assistant, you'll coordinate and assist the provider to ensure safe quality/cost effective service and care for the people within the practice population. What You'll Do Clinical Duties + Take and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.) + Prepare patients for examinations and procedures + Assist physicians during exams and minor surgeries + Collect and prepare laboratory specimens (e.g., blood, urine) + Perform basic laboratory tests + Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician + Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) + Remove sutures or change dressings + Sterilize and maintain medical instruments and exam rooms Administrative Duties + Schedule patient appointments + Check patients in and out + Verify insurance information and process billing or coding tasks + Manage medical records and ensure HIPAA compliance + Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and relay messages + Handle correspondence, such as referrals or test results Patient Care & Communication + Educate patients about medications, treatments, and healthy lifestyle choices + Provide emotional support and ensure patient comfort + Coordinate follow-up care or referrals to specialists Regulatory & Professional Responsibilities + Follow OSHA and infection control standards + Maintain certification and participate in continuing education + Ensure confidentiality and ethical conduct in all patient interactions What We're Looking For + Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. + Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: • CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) • CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA) • RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA) • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) • American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement. + Licensure/Certification: + Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required. + Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required. + Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
