Position Overview
Provide high-quality nursing care while serving as a team leader and collaborating closely with physicians and multidisciplinary staff. Educate patients and their families with age-appropriate, diagnosis-specific information, guided by the provider’s direction.
Primary ResponsibilitiesAssist providers during patient visits by preparing patients, gathering health histories, recording vital signs, and updating electronic medical records.Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked exam rooms with necessary supplies and equipment.Conduct basic clinical tests such as blood glucose, rapid HIV, flu, and strep screenings, ensuring proper equipment use and accurate specimen labeling.Observe and document changes in patient conditions, reporting concerns promptly.Administer medications and vaccines as prescribed, following the six rights of medication administration and managing IV lines as needed.Support medical procedures by preparing patients, participating in Time Out protocols, and assisting during and after procedures.Adhere to infection control standards and apply aseptic techniques when appropriate.Manage patient phone communications, provide follow-up as directed, and escalate clinical concerns to the appropriate provider.Key SkillsStrong patient care and clinical support skillsExperience with appointment scheduling and EMR systems (Athena preferred)Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verificationCase management experienceQualificationsActive CMA license in the state of Iowa requiredPay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $68640.00/yr.
