Job Overview:

 

Responsible for decontamination, assembly of instrument sets, operation of steam and Sterrad as well as all monitoring processes included with same

 

Qualifications:

 

Required:

Current National Sterile Processing Certification and 2 years of CSPD experience are required.

Preferred:

5 years of CRCST experience in a hospital setting or Same Day Surgery Center is preferred.

Essential Functions:

Maintain adequate inventory for assembly of instruments and equipmentPerform multiple tasks that assist in the daily operation of all units as well as being responsible for customer servicePerform and participate in the decontamination and cleaning of all instrumentation received, which include but are not limited to instrumentation and equipment received from all units according to established standards and proceduresPrepare case carts and trays for decontamination and load them into washer and/or sterilizer as prescribed procedurePerform the operation of the index washers, cart washers, ultrasonic cleaners as well as manually cleaning instruments and equipment as prescribed by established standards and proceduresInspects all instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and breakage by viewing the instruments before assemblyUses appropriate container, wrap or pouch according to the size of the instrument or equipmentSterilizes instruments and surgical trays by following prescribed policies and proceduresKnows how to run tests on all sterilizers, monitor and document that all parameters have been metUse chemicals in the appropriate fashion taking into consideration the intended use of chemical as well as chemical s function: knowledge of appropriate PPE is also necessaryParticipates in expediting the OR schedule by assisting the other members of the OR Team in obtaining the instruments/equipment necessary for the procedure in a timely manner Assembles and distributes case carts accurately and in a timely manner
