Start Date: ASAP We are urgently seeking a dedicated Braille Instructional Assistant to support visually impaired students in an educational setting. This position plays a vital role in ensuring students have access to the instructional materials and support they need to succeed. ? Position Overview Under the supervision of program instructors and/or administrators, the Braille Instructional Assistant will: + Transcribe instructional materials into Braille + Provide tutoring and academic support to visually impaired students + Assist students in developing skills needed for successful classroom participation + Use specialized equipment, tools, and technology for the blind and visually impaired + Prepare tactile and embossed learning materials ?? Minimum Requirements + Certification as a Literary Braille Transcriber or Proofreader (required per state/contract) + Minimum 6 months of experience performing basic Braille transcription + OR completion of a course in Braille transcription from the National Federation of the Blind (preferred) + Ability to use computer notation and electronic equipment used by visually impaired students + Knowledge of embossing tools, tactile media, and principles for creating tactile materials + Must be flexible, cooperative, and maintain HIPAA compliance + Must follow all professional standards of practice + Current CPR (if applicable) + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable) + Current health certificate (as required by contract or state regulation) + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements + Must be at least 18 years old ??
