Job Title: Certifications and Specifications Specialist

Job Description

The Certifications and Specifications Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with third-party claims and certifications. As a technical expert, you will focus on various certifications including Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO, Fair Trade, Certified Gluten Free, RSPO, Whole 30, and especially Organic. Your role involves advising internal teams on certification requirements and liaising with external certifiers and vendors. This position is part of the North America Labeling and Regulatory Compliance team but requires collaboration with global partners to support business needs.

Responsibilities

Provide global claims and certification expertise, collaborating cross-functionally to leverage certifications for a competitive market advantage.Serve as a resource for the plant certification process and lead corporate audits by third-party certifiers.Ensure accurate reporting to certifiers as required.Partner with the Labeling team to guide product development processes, ensuring claims/certifications and business requirements are met.Manage multiple projects simultaneously, providing input on project timelines.Oversee the development and maintenance of documentation to ensure compliance with regulations and third-party certification standards.Build and maintain strong relationships with certifying organizations to facilitate product submissions and resolve issues.Collaborate on ideas for process and system simplification and standardization.

Essential Skills

Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Labeling, or a related field.1-3 years of experience in certifications and specifications.Experience in writing technical specifications.Basic understanding of the product commercialization process from design to manufacturing.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, Office 365, and SharePoint.Self-directed, motivated, and good at time management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with USDA and FDA regulatory and labeling documentation.Ability to prioritize tasks and take action.Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Comfortable working with cross-functional teams.Good interpersonal and communication skills for effective networking.Good organizational skills.

Work Environment

The work schedule is primarily first shift hours, with potential for summer hours allowing longer workdays Monday through Thursday and a half-day on Friday from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The team values personality and good communication skills among coworkers. The role requires a laptop for VPN access (Macs are not recommended due to compatibility issues). There is an option for a hybrid work arrangement, and the schedule is Monday to Friday with some flexibility in daily start and end times. Holiday pay for six major holidays and accrued sick pay are provided. Opportunities for internal applications are available, with a preference for hiring contract workers for full-time positions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
