Job Overview:
The Central Supply Technician performs the daily activities involved with all aspects of decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, assembly and surgical supplies and equipment distribution including case carts function. The Central Supply Technician assists department supervisors in coordinating daily work levels to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency throughout all department functions.
Qualifications:
Required:
Must attend hands-on in-service and seminars pertaining to the Central Sterile Processing departmentMust be current within all aspects of instrumentation, cleaning, disinfection, decontamination, sterilization, packaging and sterile suppliesMust be current in all areas of the Central Sterile Processing departmentPreferred:
1 to 3 years Central Sterile Processing experienceCertifications and Licenses Required:
Must be certified by the IAHCSMM or the Sterile Processing board as mandated by the New Jersey State Department of HealthMust accrue CEUs to maintain current certificationScheduling Requirements:
Shift working, 11pm-7amFull-Time (FT)Essential Functions:
Performs the activities within the department, including but not limited to cleaning, decontamination, disinfection, assembly and sterilization of surgical devices &instruments, code carts and patient care equipmentIdentifies & understands written data and be able to read/write alpha and numeric data accuratelyAssists department supervisors in coordinating daily work levels to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency throughout all department functionsConscientious with regards to surgical procedures, nursing units clinical needs, and equipment procurementCapable of accepting pressure assignments, as assigned, relative to the departmentInteracts professionally with other departments and personnel within the system including physiciansDemonstrates a willingness to accept new responsibilities/ideas, learn duties of the position and possess good organizational skillsAssists SPD Supervisor with staff orientation, on the job training activities in the departmentAssumes responsibility for the distribution of medical/surgical supplies and equipmentWorks in a high stress/high volume departmentAttends hands on in-service/ seminars pertaining to the Central Sterile Processing departmentBenefits and Perks:
