Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Central Service Technician Team Lead is responsible for phases of the supply process, collection and distribution functions for services to various departments including GI Unit, and inpatient or outpatient surgical units. This individual has a responsibility of contributing to the quality of patient care through strict quality assurance and efficient practices of decontaminating surgical equipment and instruments through proper cleaning, inspecting, maintaining, assembling, packaging and monitoring sterilization of instruments and supplies. The Central Services Technician, TL teaches students and staff and serves as a resource to various departments for quality assurance measures. This individual will assist with the day to day supervisory duties of department, including staffing, acting as a resource and role model for the staff, assisting the department manager with performance reviews and orientation of new staff. Central Service Technician, TL will ensure the team stays focused on assigned tasks. This individual challenges the team to learn more and sets work related goals. Then Central Service Technician, TL must be fluent with the Instrument tracking system. This individual will be instrumental with upkeep of the tracking system.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Graduate of an accredited HSPA or CBSPD sterile processing technician program or equivalent military training.

Preferred/Optional:

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum Required: One year central sterile experience in Certified Tech II role.

Preferred/Optional: Three years central sterile experience in Certified Tech II role.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA and one of the following at time of hire:

Central Service Technician certification awarded by Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Military equivalency
