A Clinical Engineer Technician maintains, services, and repairs medical equipment. This could take the form of preventative measures, cleaning, or adjusting pieces of equipment. CE Technicians are also familiar enough with hospital machinery to disassemble, repair, and reassemble various pieces of technology, although they might specialize in a specific kind of machinery. They are always up to date on the most recent technologies emerging in the medical field and help ensure that other hospital staff members use the machinery safely.
A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 7:00AM – 3:30PM or 9:00AM – 5:30PM, with an on-call every fourth week requirement. Rotating to Coral Springs Family Health and Surgery Center will be required as needed.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide routine and as needed clinical engineering services (repair, maintenance, relocation, installation, etc.) for equipment.
Maintain documentation of equipment, inventory, service and repairs.
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Two years of relevant experience troubleshooting and maintaining medical equipment OR an Associate’s Degree in Biomechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or IT (information technology) OR equivalent specialized or military training
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET)
Associate’s Degree in Biomedical or Electrical Engineering

Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb 8-foot ladders and work on overhead equipment.
Ability to work in prone positions and in confined, darkened areas.
Sufficient manual dexterity to use hand and power tools and work on small mechanical parts.
Visual acuity sufficient to distinguish between colors used for wire color coding and read finely printed blueprints and schematics.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
