As a Regulatory Strategy Engagement Manager within the Firmwide Regulatory Strategy team, you will be responsible for leading a team who will manage engagements with regulators across Risk Management, Compliance and several Corporate Functions, additionally you will work closely with senior leaders of the Firm globally to provide strategic advice and handle regulatory exams and other engagements conducted by the FRB, OCC, FDIC and other regulators impacting your coverage area. The Regulatory Engagement team sits within Firmwide Regulatory Strategy and is a centralized resource. Coverage areas include, but are not limited to: Firmwide Risk Management, Credit Risk Management, Model Risk, Corporate Compliance, Operational Risk Management, Third Party Oversight, Resiliency, Control Management, and Human Resources and selected other corporate functions.
Working directly with regulators and senior internal stakeholders, you will lead and coordinate the firm’s responses to exams; field, direct, and respond to ad hoc regulatory inquiries; chair regulatory meetings; and develop reports for senior management. You will gain exposure to a broad spectrum of regulatory issues and topics as they affect various stakeholders and will also be responsible for the development and execution of the strategy for regulatory engagement within the team and for communicating that strategy to senior leaders in your areas of coverage. In this role you will maintain a high level of visibility within the organization, through regular interactions with senior business and functional leaders.
Job Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for all regulatory engagements that impact the coverage areas both for internal stakeholders and the relevant regulatorsOversee, coordinate and strategically prepare for the recurring ongoing supervision meetings between your stakeholders and their respective regulators.Oversee and Lead regulatory exams through the exam lifecycle, as well as ongoing monitoring engagements.Advise, influence, and challenge the accountable LOB or Function Lead and other exam partners in preparation for, and engagement in, regulatory engagements and advising on regulatory issues within your areas.Work with REMs and engagement managers across LOB and functions, and other responsible parties, to coordinate and drive a consistent message and approach to regulatory engagement coverage within coverage areas.Escalate issues that arise in the course of engagements promptly and effectively.Establish and maintain strong working relationships between the regulators and the Firm. Partner across lines of business and functions within JPMorgan Chase to deliver fulsome and consistent responses to regulatory inquiries.Drive messaging and provide reporting to senior stakeholders highlighting activity on, and focus areas of, regulatory engagements and oversee and coordinate content of presentation materials for regulatory engagements.Maintain thorough and accurate records of exams in progress, recurring meetings, and MIS reporting provided to regulators.Stay up-to-date with regulatory activities managed by regional REM teams in EMEA, APAC and LATAM and assist with addressing questions/requests to drive a consistent message globally.Manage a team of exam managers. Drive the ongoing development of the Regulatory Strategy program, including mobility, succession planning, identifying top talent and participating in talent reviews and discussions across Regulatory Strategy. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience and 5 years of management-level experience at a large financial institution, regulator, consulting firm and/or law firmExperience in, or working with, Risk Management and Compliance at a large, complex banking organizationDeep knowledge of and experience with regulators’ exam processes and regulatory mattersA strong track record of managing relationships at a senior levelSuperior, proven management skills, including the ability to identify and develop new talent and to think and act strategicallySuperior communication skills, including active listening and the ability to capture and deliver key takeaways from engagements in writingAbility to perform under pressure and to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines
