CBO Assistant - PPG CBO - Full Time
ProMedica Health System
Performs daily activities within the Ambulatory Central Billing Office (CBO) such as opening incoming mail, distribution of mail items, scanning supporting documentation, working within the Practice Management System, and supporting all departments within the Ambulatory CBO.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
*All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise*
1. Sorts and distributes mail throughout the day.
2. Scans all supporting documentation into Electronic Storage System.
3. Verify insurance benefits, limits, and patient obligations.
4. Accurately reviews and updates demographic and insurance information in the practice management system.
5. Performs cash and EOB reconciliation for Ambulatory bank accounts and insurance payments, including accessing various payer websites to obtain and verify information.
6. Perform a variety of registration, billing, follow up and collection functions for all payers including self-pay.
7. Knows and follows all billing regulations and corporate compliance plans.
8. Provide feedback to management on issues that impede timeliness or quality of billing and work with management to resolve.
9. Independently reviews assigned workloads and completion to ensure goals are being met.
10. All other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Skills: Must demonstrate the ability to solve problems accurately and independently by passing a basic skills test. Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and show a commitment to exceptional customer service. Must have previous experience with computers and office equipment, as well as be able to input and retrieve information from a computer, operate an adding machine, fax machine and copier. Must be a team player and be supportive of our department and ProMedica mission and values. Must have the ability to manage large volumes of work, ability to quickly learn and retain information regarding issues that present themselves. Must have strong organizational, quantitative, and analytical skills as well as the ability to multitask.
Years of Experience: At least 1 years’ experience in Professional/Physician credentialing, registration, billing, customer service or collection with at least 6 months’ experience specific to billing office work preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills: Experience reading hospital/Physician medical records. Detailed understanding of CPT & ICD-9 (10) coding. Detailed understanding of Professional charging processes. Detailed understanding and ability to interpret payor EOB.
