Job Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Category Manager, the Senior Specialist – Category Coordinator is responsible for providing support on assigned national categories across all retail Banners, which include but are not be limited to: Promotions Data input, contract confirmation, Financial Billings, Vendor Liaison, Store Liaison, Market Data Collection and Analysis.
Location: 2300 Meadowvale Blvd, Mississauga, ON
Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position requiring candidates to work on-site at least 2 days per week at our designated office location. The remaining days may be worked remotely, subject to team and business needs.
Specific Responsibilities
Coordinate all planograms with vendors for new launches.Assist Sr. Category Manager in building planogram; list and de-list SKUs, charge vendors markdown fees and coordinate funds to Finance.Schedule monthly in-store promotions for all retail banners.Create promotional event communications (to provide promotional directives to stores).Manage merchandising direction through Advertising department and provide support for sample collection/ other activities associated with the Flyer/Seasonal processes.Proofread flyers to ensure accuracy.Support Sr. Category Manager in planning weekly promotions.Liaise and resolve pricing issues with pricing staff at Banner & Enterprise stores and McKesson.Initiate and/or manage revenue and expense activities between Retail Banners, McKesson, and vendors.Support Sr. Category Manager with negotiations for vendor funding.Create and monitor all financial activities (vendor invoices) generated in the department including Co-op, Subsidies, O&A, Banner & Enterprise stores, Upfront, Accruals, etc. Manage the process to ensure timely collection of outstanding A/R related to the above.Monitor competitor pricing.Consult with vendors to expedite receipt of promo fact sheets after negotiations between Category Managers and vendor representatives.Monitor distribution throughout the network, ensure McKesson and vendor have ordered and shipped products on schedule.Coordinate Banner & Enterprise Store Showcase; including but not limited to emailing with vendors with respect to promotions/deals, ensure deal is received by deadline, ensure information is correct at McKesson and upload into system, follow-up with discrepancies between McKesson and vendor after the show.Proofread and correct information relevant to the categories represented in their areas.Problem solves and responds to store issues in a timely fashion as directed in corporate policies.Manage assigned portion of the weekly marketing and merchandising pieces included in the weekly store communication package.Access and analyze appropriate Category review information as needed using the ACN Workstation Plus software package utilized by the company. Make recommendations to Category Managers based on results.Consult with the Distribution Department on all issues that interact with the development and execution of merchandising initiatives.Attend weekly merchandising meetings in absence of Category Manager.May perform some administrative duties including data integrity of promotional system.Minimum Qualifications
2-3 years College Diploma in a related discipline required; University Degree preferred.2-3 years’ experience in Merchandising/Marketing function, preferably in retail environment.Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint and Excel.Key Competencies
Experience in retail sales, marketing, or category management of HABA or OTC is an asset.Excellent time management and prioritization skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organizational, financial and analytic skills.Must possess the right balance between being creative and paying attention to detail.Ability to work a fast paced and changing environment.Knowledge of related regulations.Demonstrated presentation and negotiation skills.We are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson as part of our Total Rewards.
