About E&T Procurement

Caterpillar’s E&T Procurement organization plays a critical role in supporting all divisions within Energy and Transportation. Our work is geared towards our pistons of Predictable Supply Excellence, Optimized Total Cost of Ownership, Supplier Relationship Management and Lifecycle Sourcing Strategy. Job Summary

We are looking for Category Buyer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in supply network solutions, applying the principles of Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM) to achieve optimal results and deliver maximum value across our operations. Your strategic insight and analytical skills will be instrumental in fostering innovation, driving efficiency, and cultivating strong supplier partnerships that support our commitment to excellence.

What You Will Do

Direct the development, communication and implementation of a site, regional, or worldwide sourcing strategy for the Gear & Shaft Category Team.

Managing policies, agreements and supporting specific Product line(s) NPI programs for both the Caterpillar Engine and Drivetrain Divisions.

Provide leadership for sourcing, logistics and resource management decisions.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives and purchasing new product introduction activities within Purchasing.

Demonstrate leadership in recognizing the potential for cost and inventory reductions, and quality improvement, as well as responsibility for soundness of business proposals and risk assessment.

Develop and lead teams to fully understand the current performance of the supply base, evaluate strategic options, decide a course of action, and begin implementation.

Collaborate with Supplier Development Engineers, to ensure continuous improvement with key suppliers. Build and foster mutually beneficial supplier relationships at all organizational levels.

What You Will Have:
Data Analytics: Working knowledge of techniques and processes for inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data; ability to discover useful information, draw logical conclusions, and support decision-making.

Collects required data through various data sources and documents for evaluating trends and activities.

Assists in preparing charts, graphs, tables, and other tools to represent the results obtained from data analysis.

Research business-related data, analyzes, interprets, and presents findings to management.

Recognizes and assesses problems, opportunities, and methods for improving existing business performance.

Utilizes designated data analysis software to analyze the data.

Discusses organizational protocols, standards, and procedures for contracts management and administration.

Supplier Relationship Management: Basic understanding of supplier relationship management concepts and strategies; ability to address critical issues to meet supplier needs and maintain engagement, partnering relationships with suppliers.

Describes the general processes and procedures involved in supplier relationship management.

Explains the benefits of establishing and maintaining supplier relationships.

Identifies the main objectives and functions of supplier relationship management.

Locates where and how to obtain or maintain information on suppliers.

Summary Pay Range:

$87,480.00 - $131,280.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
