Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opening for a Category Buyer in our MRO Procurement team in Cleveland, OH. This Category Buyer will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of their commodities with a focus on purchasing electrical parts and repairs along with other commodity categories as assigned. Other duties include assisting in developing, managing, pricing and maintaining supply contracts with our electrical suppliers. This person will interface with Suppliers, Operations, and other Cliffs Administrative Departments, as well as their peers from the Procurement organization.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Support Electrical, Fabrication & Repair Procurement Team as necessary by sharing ownership of suppliers within the commodities assigned including assisting in writing and managing contracts, pricing, quality, and performanceContinuously strive to reduce the total cost of procured goods and services by negotiating favorable pricing, terms, and price protection in order to obtain the best valueKeep abreast of market conditions as to availability, price, and quality of assigned commoditiesWrite Requests for Pricing / Purchase Orders for all suppliers used under assigned commoditiesInterface regularly with supplier representativesReview assigned incoming requisitions and determine best buying methodsPartner with management and Legal on contract requirements and address purchasing issues in a timely fashionPrepare detailed weekly / monthly reports and highlights for use by management Follow department policies and procedures and participate in activities to continuously improve department workflowOccasional travel is requiredOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain or other business-related degree At least two years of purchasing or industrial/operational experience with electrical componentsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPointStrong analytical skills with attention to detailAbility to think strategically and work independently as well as in a team environmentStrong communication skills, both oral and writtenMust be resourceful and about to take initiative with a sense of urgencyPreferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting a manufacturing organizationUnderstanding of high and low voltage electrical components, electronic components, electrical construction supplies, power supplies, PLC’s, drives, transformers, and other electrical and electronic devicesKnowledge of Oracle and TabWare ERP systemsApplicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
