Overview:
The Floral Analyst II plays a critical role in providing insights and assessments related to assortment decisions that drive localized and relevant product offerings. By analyzing market trends and consumer behavior, this role helps maximize competitive advantage and ensures that the merchandising assortment is tailored to meet customer needs. The Category Analyst collaborates closely with merchandising and category teams to optimize product selections and drive performance across categories.
What You'll Do:
Planning and Execution
Create category deep dive to understand opportunity gaps and performance vs ROM with particular emphasis on assortmentProvide recommendation on assortment gap closures by identifying top performing categories by sales dollar/volume size along with growth trends and top itemsUnderstand competitive landscape for assortment and strategyCollaborate with Category Manager and Buyers to align on strategy and goalsCreate sales plan to keep store teams informed by periodProvide recommendations that meet the needs of the most important shopper to the categoryFacilitate recommended holiday buys/ surveys with Category TeamLead new item setup with buyer, vendor partner and ILC.
Operational Excellence
Prepare distribution reports and review with Category Manager and BuyersEvaluate/summarize potential sales gain/loss on new items/deletes; provide to Category ManagerCollaborate with Category Manager and Buyers to understand major changes occurring and communicate to groupUpdate new item/delete summary with actual store counts/sales forecast, review with Category Manager and BuyersPrepare pre/post reports to recap and measure performance for seasonal events
What You'll Bring:
3-5 years of analytical experience in a retail and/or consumer packaged goods roleBachelor's degree in business or related fieldProficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, PPT, Word)Balances workload and prioritiesProven success with analytical interpretation of complex data setsEffective and concise communication and presentation skillsPrecise attention to detailNegotiation ability is encouragedExperience with syndicated/competitive data (e.g. Nielsen, IRI)Ability to interact with all levels of management in a fast paced, changing environment
Salary: $68,325 - $91,100
The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include, but are not limited to, responsibilities of the role, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable law. This position will be on-site at the Giant Food Headquarters in Hyattsville, MD.
