Requisition ID: req59041 Job Title: Casework Intern (unpaid) Sector: Administrative/General Office Employment Category: Intern Employment Type: Part-Time Compensation: USD 0.00 - 0.00 Hourly Location: Elizabeth, NJ USA Work Arrangement:Open to Remote Job Description SCOPE OF WORK: The International Rescue Committee (IRC), works in the United States welcomes newly arrived refugees and immigrants, supports them in their resettlement, and provides holistic services to help them build new lives in their communities. The Casework programs at the IRC offer newly arrived families, single adults, and the elderly with trauma-informed case management and adjustment services to help them achieve financial, medical, social, and vocational stability. This internship is unpaid and depending on team placement, may be completed either virtually or through a combination of virtual and in person time. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Casework Intern will assist the Casework Team with providing case management and adjustment services to clients such as public benefits access, crisis management, internal and external referrals, and self-sufficiency planning with clients. + Assist Caseworkers with intakes to assess needs and develop and implement self-sufficiency plans over agreed timeframes with each client. + Support Caseworkers to provide individualized support to clients through direct services, referrals, and advocacy. + Monitor and assess client progress to ensure they are on track to meeting their needs and goals. + Coordinate effectively with other IRC departments and members of partner agencies to facilitate services for clients. + Assist with client outreach to promote IRC programming and events to the benefit of the client. + Assist with scheduling client intakes and appointments. + Track and input client data into databases and other internal tracking tools. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. Intern will learn how case management programs function, and how different programs, departments, and agencies work together to guide clients towards self-sufficiency. 2. Intern will learn how to use case management software and other tools effectively. 3. Intern will gain valuable experience working with culturally diverse populations who have a wide range of needs and goals. REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers must be based in the U.S.Interns must be based in US, must be a US citizen or have US work authorization, must be enrolled in post-secondary institution or have graduated from a post-secondary institution within last 2 years. · Proficiency in a second language, preferably Spanish or Haitian Creole, highly desired. · Previous experience working with refugee or immigrants highly desired. · Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications preferred · Ability to work 10-20 hours per week in a virtual or hybrid role including in person and virtual time.
