The Case Manager is a client-dedicated role that supports the day-to-day management of a portfolio of matters and assists with discovery program development and discovery case strategy. This role will work closely with other client organizations such as IT, InfoSec, Privacy, and Compliance as required to ensure that daily discovery requirements are met in a timely manner and according to best practices. As a strategic consultant, the Senior Case Manager requires strong attention to detail, problem solving, communication, and people management skills.
Responsibilities Act as a liaison between the client and outside counsel,Work very closely with ProcurementBe responsible for reviewing Contracts; specifically, Terms and ConditionsPossess in depth knowledge of Law Firm pricing in the market and how it worksBe responsible for documenting Rate AgreementsBe a self-starter, proactive and consultativeFulfill the client’s strategic discovery goals and objectives, as defined by the client in consultation with ConsilioStandardize, coordinate, and facilitate discovery tasks with vendors and other partiesDevelop and manage relationships with stakeholders across the discovery workflowMonitor discovery activity by matter and serve in a consultative role to appropriately limit the amount data collected, processed, and reviewedProvide guidance and continuity on discovery-related decisions throughout the matterProvide recommendations on case-specific issues, including complex, large-scale, and non-standard requirements and requestsParticipate in matter budgeting, early discovery planning, and overall strategyOversee day-to-day evidence management for assigned matters and facilitate adherence to end-to-end discovery processesFacilitate custodian interviews to identify data sourcesProvide recommendations to the discovery team on process improvements and opportunities for spend and risk reductionFacilitate collection, processing, review, and production workflow enhancementsEnsure process documentation is up to date and available; provide education and support when neededUnderstand implications of international collection and address international data issues with the appropriate partiesServe as a liaison between document review vendors and counselEncourage high-quality work product and a service-oriented approach across the discovery team
Additional Responsibilities/Details:
Quarterly meetings and reportsCoordinate and facilitate quarterly meetings with key stakeholders and internal counsel to address program-level objectives, including process efficiency and vendor performanceCoordinate and facilitate quarterly meetings with preferred vendors to align and address any performance concerns and process refinementsFacilitate training sessions related to the discovery process, including periodic “refresher” training sessionsEducate outside counsel on client’s discovery process as it relates to specific matters and ensure compliance with Outside Counsel Guidelines QualificationsMinimum Education Requirements:
BA/BS degree or equivalent experienceJD PreferredMinimum Experience Requirements:
7+ years of in-depth eDiscovery experience inside a corporate legal department, at a law firm, or at a discovery vendor5+ years of management/leadership experienceDemonstrated experience managing multiple, concurrent projects involving cross-functional teams operating within budgetary and schedule constraintsDemonstrated ability to manage client expectations and maintain client satisfactionOther Requirements:
A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to anticipate client needsThe ability to confront unexpected problems quickly and effectivelyRelativity or other discovery/legal hold platform experience preferred
