Rosewood Miramar Beach, a Rosewood Hotel and Caruso's, is looking for an extraordinary Sommelier. Coastal California Cuisine ~ A Taste Of Southern Italy ~ Chef Massimo introduces signature dishes utilizing the highest-quality ingredients sourced from neighboring farmers, fishermen and ranchers, complemented by an extensive selection of hyperlocal and international wines and handcrafted cocktails. The ideal Sommelier is proactive, upbeat, thorough, team-oriented, and has an immaculate attention to detail. The Sommelier is responsible for delivering excellent wine service, while working with the service team to create world class hospitality. This position will report to Caruso’s General Manager & Director of Wine.

Responsibilities:

Actively engage in service and lead with a hands-on approachUphold Forbes 5-star Restaurant StandardsTake the lead in growing wine sales at Caruso’s and Miramar ClubAnticipate guest needs and maintain positive guest relations at all timesAdvise guests on wines based on their personal taste and food pairingsEnsure wines are served at the right temperature and with the proper glasswareMaintain pars and report order needsHelp maintain the wine cellar, the beverage storeroom, and assist in monthly inventoriesCreate and participate in staff wine tasting and educational opportunitiesMaintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areasComplete opening side and closing side duties thoroughly and efficiently as assignedModel the company’s culture, vision, mission and core values at all times

Requirements:

Experience as a sommelier in fine dining or luxury resort preferred but not required.CMS or WSET certifications or equivalent from another accredited wine institution.Passionate about wine, food, and world class hospitality.Warm, friendly and an excellent communicator.Ability to teach and encourage service staff to develop their wine knowledge.Extensive knowledge of wine and formal wine service.Working knowledge of cocktails and spirits.Availability to work nights, weekends & holidays.Must have a current and valid Food Handler Certification. Must have a current and valid Responsible Beverage Service Certification and Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Server ID. Minimum 21 years of age to pour alcoholic beverages.

The pay scale for this position is between $23.00 and $25.00/hour plus tips. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay.
