Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter for a fixed-term contract position in Gaborone, Botswana. The ideal candidate will join our team to work on various residential and commercial projects, contributing their expertise to deliver high-quality carpentry work.

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials needed and installation proceduresMeasure, cut, shape, and assemble wooden structures and materials according to project requirementsInstall structures and fixtures such as windows, doors, flooring, and cabinetryInspect and replace damaged framework or other wooden structuresMaintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and proceduresCollaborate with other construction professionals to ensure project timelines and quality standards are metEstimate material and time requirements for projectsMaintain and repair carpentry tools and equipmentAdapt to various work locations around Gaborone as required by different projects

QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry preferred3-5 years of experience in carpentry, with exposure to both residential and commercial projectsProficiency in using carpentry tools and equipmentStrong skills in blueprint reading, woodworking techniques, and precise measurementsKnowledge of safety procedures and regulations; relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA) are a plusFamiliarity with local building codes and regulations in BotswanaExperience working with local wood types and materialsDetail-oriented approach with a focus on quality and efficiencyExcellent organizational skills and ability to manage time effectivelyPhysical stamina and ability to lift heavy materialsValid driver's license and ability to travel to various work sites in GaboroneStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
