**Job Title: Carpenter** **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled carpenter responsible for designing, building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and other items using various materials. The role involves both new construction and retrofit projects in commercial settings. **Responsibilities** + Design and prepare layout for carpentry projects. + Build, install, and repair structures using materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall. + Perform finish carpentry, including installing trim, doors, frames, and hardware. + Conduct rough carpentry tasks such as blocking, nailer, barricading, and temporary walls. + Work with blueprints and specifications to ensure accurate project completion. + Utilize hand and power tools, such as saws, drills, and sanders, for construction and repair tasks. + Join materials using nails, screws, staples, or adhesives. + Ensure structures are level and secure using levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment. + Install cabinetry, countertops, and owner-furnished items. + Handle materials, including plywood cabinets and lumber, and lift up to 50 pounds on and off trucks. **Essential Skills** + 5+ years of commercial carpentry experience in new construction or retrofits. + Proficiency in millwork, wall protection, hanging doors, framing, cabinetry, and laminate installation. + Ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively for required jobs. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with general trades knowledge for commercial applications. + Ability to select appropriate materials for projects. **Why Work Here?** Enjoy contracted work over the winter with opportunities to work on high-profile projects in a supportive and dynamic environment. **Work Environment** Work on significant projects such as Helen Devos Children's Hospital, Mary Free Bed Hospital, and Grand Rapids Airport. The role involves first shift work from 6 am or 7 am to 3 pm or 4 pm. Work independently or in groups, primarily indoors, with enclosed work at the airport's new construction site. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
