POSITION SUMMARY: Performs general to advanced carpentry duties throughout the hospital facilities. Performs other duties as assigned to assist in achieving overall division and hospital goals. May be required to work other shifts as well as rotating schedules and overtime. EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: Carpenter I: high school graduate or equivalent plus post high school trades/vocational training. Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Working knowledge of general carpentry techniques. Ability to read and interpret blue prints. Ability to calculate material needs from blueprints and specifications. General knowledge of applicable code and regulatory related issues. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS: Industrial setting. Exposure Class I –routine or potential exposure to blood secretions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Heavy work: lifting, pushing, pulling, walking and standing. WORK CONTACT GROUP: All services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, contractors and vendors. SUPERVISED BY: Coordinator of Services or Manager SUPERVISES: N/A CAREER PATH: Carpenter II and Carpenter III EXPECTATIONS · Operates and utilizes all shop tools, equipment machinery and materials. · Performs general layout and construction for projects assigned. · May perform general painting. · Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement. Pay Range: $20.20-29.30 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
