Position Description:

Nevada Gold Mines has an exciting opportunity for a Closure Specialist to join our Carlin Environmental team. As a key member of our team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring facilities have detailed closure operation and maintenance management plans as they transition to closure while contributing to the sustainability and success of our operations.

Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of closure operations for end-of-life facilities, including coordination of ongoing operations and planning of maintenance activities for active components of the facilities (e.g., pumps and related systems).Supervise operators, maintenance technicians and contractors to ensure the safe delivery of project objectives including continued water management for heap leach pads, tailings storage facilities, waste rock facilities and other mining components
Lead the development of operation and maintenance manuals to ensure consistent and effective long-term management of closure facilities.Develop and implement strategies to safely and responsibly decommission facilities at the end of their operational life, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and adherence to best management practices.Lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams to plan, budget, and execute closure projects from initiation through completion.Collaborate with operating divisions to support their environmental and operational objectives.Work with government regulators, community members, and other stakeholders to define and achieve post-closure land use goals.Coordinate the completion of environmental studies and reports. Participate in regulatory inspections. Maintain accurate records of agency and stakeholder communications.Assists with the development of permitting strategies that minimize project risks (e.g., schedule, costs, and social)
Align work practices with NGM Health, Safety, and Environmental ISO 14001 and 45001 standards. Lead by example and promote the NGM Safety and Environmental programs and initiatives.Provide after-hours, on-call support for environmental incidents when needed.Maintain physical fitness to work in challenging environments, including walking uneven, sloped, rocky, or icy terrain and safely lifting up to 40 pounds.Take on additional duties as assigned to support department goals and environmental compliance.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in an industrial or mining setting.General understanding of mining operations – RequiredMechanical aptitude and understanding of mining and processing equipment – RequiredStrong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills - RequiredProven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and compliance standards are met - RequiredHigh level of attention to detail - RequiredStrong computer skills - Required Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others - RequiredAbility to drive results and ensure completion of time sensitive deadlines - RequiredAbility and willingness to work outdoors throughout the year in all weather conditions - RequiredWhat We Offer:
