What You'll Do

As Career Development Manager, you will orchestrate the operations to deliver excellent Career Development (CD) experience to our Consulting Team (CT) staff and CD stakeholders. Career Development encompasses the core performance management processes for our Consulting Team, including project-based downward feedback; upward feedback for team managers; twice-yearly holistic assessment by the Career Development Committee (CDC); and enablement of CD Advisors and case team leaders to deliver rich ongoing developmental conversations and experiences throughout the BCG journey.

 

In this highly collaborative role, you will act as:

Trusted thought-partner to our CD Chairs and office leadership, equipping them with the information they need to set priorities and lead rich discussions with the Career Development Committee (CDC)Standard-bearer for our CD Advisors, ensuring they do thorough diligence and synthesis of their advisees’ performance and craft robust development plansClose collaborator with our Talent Managers, ensuring their holistic understanding of individual circumstances factors into CD processesSubject-matter expert and source of truth for CT staff and CD stakeholders on CD policies, processes, and precedentsAlly to the NAMR CD team in operationalizing regional strategic initiatives and innovations within your office

Examples of key day-to-day activities include:

CDC meeting preparation and management, e.g.,Owning end-to-end process management of CDC(s), overseeing meeting readiness and communicating with CT and CD Advisors to ensure key pre-meeting tasks are completed to standards of quality and timelinessContribute to CDC meeting discussion, e.g., on questions of policy, precedent, best practiceEnsure post-meeting outcomes and updates are capturedOver time recognize themes and patterns across profiles and cohortsManage annual CDC calendar, including scheduling all CDC meetings, check-ins, follow-ups, and related trainings throughout the yearManagement of downward and upward feedback, e.g.,
Holding CT and CD Advisors accountable to standards of timeliness and quality Acting as source of truth on review process and policiesSupporting and enabling local CD leadership (CD Chair, Office Leadership, Talent Managers, CD Advisors), e.g.,Organizing and contributing to pre-meeting deep-dive discussions and post-meeting debriefsPartnering with Talent Managers to ensure thoughtful and timely review calibrationOverseeing assignments of CD Advisors to new and newly promoted CT staff in partnership with the Talent DirectorContribute information and insights to Talent team check-ins on timely topicsSupporting onboarding and training of CD Advisors led by CD ChairsCommunications to office CT staff, e.g.,Leading new hire onboarding sessions, ongoing trainings, and cohort meetingsActing as messenger for key CD communications to CT (regional updates, etc.)Other ongoing support, e.g.,Leading local strategic initiatives (e.g., Workday transition, aligning on revised matrix philosophy, etc)Supporting year-end bonus process, including providing relevant metrics as inputs to bonus decisionsProviding all necessary CD data and reporting for Mobility applicationsPartnering with HR to ensure tenure is correct for CT membersSharing best practices with peers throughout NAMR on regular regional CD touchpoints

What You'll Bring

BA/BS degree required with 5+ years related work experience in Career Development, Performance Management, HR, Staffing, Learning & Development, or Talent DevelopmentPrior experience at BCG or another management consulting firm highly preferredExperience in a People-related role highly preferred

Who You'll Work With

You’ll report to the Talent Director while teaming closely with all People team leaders of the New Jersey office, including the Business Management Leader, Talent Team, and CD leadership, as well as a cadre of senior Consulting Team staff who serve as Career Development Advisors and are among BCG’s most dedicated people developers. You’ll also be part of a broader network of Career Development peers across North America, with whom you’ll share learnings and best practices.

That's why we operate on a hybrid model, with the expectation that team members will be in the office 3 to 5 days per week. This role is designed for those who thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment and is not intended for remote or virtual work. 

 

Compensation Information:  

 

Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market leading benefits package described below.

 

The base salary range for this role is $116,000-$144,000 (USD).

 

This is an estimated range and specific base salaries within the range depend on factors such as office location, experience, and skill set. It is not common for new BCG employees to be hired at the high-end of the salary range. BCG regularly reviews its ranges to ensure market competitiveness.

 

In addition to your base salary, your total compensation will include a discretionary bonus of up to 16% and a generous retirement contribution that starts at 5% and moves to 10% after 2 years.
