Key Responsibilities Strategic Career Mentorship + Pathway Advising: Act as a dedicated mentor for students in outdoor recreation, hospitality, and tourism, helping them navigate career expropriation and professional identity. + Skill Translation: Provide expert guidance on resume development and interview preparation, specifically helping students translate “field experience” into professional assets. + Workshop & Education: Design and lead seminars on job search strategies and evolving trends of the recreation industry. Industry Partnership & HUB Coordination + Economic Liaison: Build high-level partnerships with Maine's business, government, and non-profit sectors to secure internships and sustainable career pipelines. + Experiential Learning: Work with faculty to ensure that classroom learning is matched with “hands-on” field opportunities. + Event Architecture: Organize guest speaker series, industry networking nights, and student-led professional initiatives. + System Integration: Collaborate with the University of Maine System (UMS) to align regional goals and share industry resources. Required Qualifications + Education: Bachelor's degree in Career Services, Student Affairs, Outdoor Recreation, Business, or a related field. + Professional Experience: Four (4) to six (6) years of professional related experience in career services or student affairs, which must include at least three (3) years specifically within the outdoor recreation, hospitality, or tourism industries. + Mentorship: Direct experience advising and/or mentoring students or young professionals. + Program Development: Demonstrated experience developing internship programs and building successful relationships with employers. Preferred Qualifications + Industry Insight: Advanced knowledge of current job trends within Maine and the regional New England economy. + External Relations: Strong public relations and networking experience with a track record of building industry-wide connections. + Institutional Knowledge: A thorough understanding of the principles of college student development and the specific policies and structures of a four-year public university system. + Given the specialized nature of this role, we encourage applications from Veterans with professional backgrounds in MWR Program Management, Career Counseling and Personnel Officers, or Command and Logistics Leadership.
