Cardiovascular Technologist Registered - McLaren Careers
Under the direction of the Patient Care Services Manager, is responsible for providing direct patient care for a wide range of patient acuity, assessing and monitoring patient condition, informing the physician of changes in patient condition, assisting the physician as a scrub tech/monitor tech, circulating tech, operating sophisticated technical equipment, properly using complex medical supplies, obtaining diagnostic-quality images and accurate hemodynamic data, and documenting thoroughly on the medical record. **Essential Functions and Responsibilities:** + Acts as a clinical resource for other staff. + Assesses patient conditions and takes appropriate and timely action. + Monitors, analyzes, obtains, calculates and documents data obtained in procedures which involves: + retrieving and recording all pertinent information from patient’s charts; + setting up equipment to ensure that it is ready for procedure; + turning on and monitoring the equipment before and during procedures to ensure appropriate data is obtained; + recording and calculating various patient measurements and pressures, and analyzing each chamber in the heart; + notifying physician of any abnormalities or problems; + ensuring that all data is appropriately obtained and recorded; and + maintains patient records on all procedures. + Assists the physician during cardiac cath lab procedures, which involves: + scrubbing according to sterile technique; + monitoring the patient and assisting in injecting dye into catheter, flushing lines, positioning equipment and guide-wire, and in starting intravenous lines or medications; + recognizing problems with the patient and notifying physician as appropriate; and + operating equipment during the procedure. + Maintains the catheterization procedure room and equipment, which involves: + cleaning up the room following each case and ensuring that it is sterile and properly stocked at the beginning of each case; + setting up of all equipment to ensure that it is prepared for cath case; + obtaining needed equipment or supplies as required or requested by physician; + inspecting the cath procedure room and equipment in compliance with departmental standards; and + conducting infectious control studies or preventative maintenance as required + Conducting physical inventory of supplies as required. + Performs all functions in the Cardiac Cath Lab as required or requested (within scope of practice)Implements emergency procedures as necessary. + Uses acceptable standards of practice to evaluate and implement changes in provision of nursing care with regards to accreditation guidelines.Other related duties as required or requested by the Manager. **Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities/Females/Disabled/Veterans.** _Required:_ + Graduate of accredited associate or baccalaureate academic program in health science (includes, but not limited to, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, cardiopulmonary technology, cardiovascular technology). * + Minimum of three years of current allied health experience in an acute care setting with cardiac catherization or special procedures experience. + Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT(R)) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). + American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification as Healthcare Provider. + Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months. **Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities/Females/Disabled/Veterans**
