Job SummaryThe Cardiovascular Perfusion Program Manager leads the Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospitals Cardiovascular Institute CV Perfusion education program. The Program Manager helps design, develop, and assess program curricula. They assist in teaching classes, mentoring, and developing students using accepted academic methods and assessment techniques.
Essential Functions of the RoleOversees the entire Cardiovascular Perfusion program. Implements curricula design, development, revision, and assessment. This includes course goals, instructional methods, learning outcomes, projects, and assessment measures.Recommends program equipment, supplies, library materials, textbooks, and other items for purchase. Monitors the safety and quality of instructional materials.Establishes and coordinates clinical externship sites; monitors student placement and performance at externship sites.Involved in cases with students, provides hands-on education during cardiovascular perfusion procedures.Continuously teaches, schedules and staffs classes.Oversees student recruiting, advising, mentoring, and teaching.Hires, trains, mentors, and evaluates instructors. Maintains the program curriculum's continuity and relevance by meeting regularly with instructors.Prepare and submit all necessary annual reports to maintain CAAHEP accreditation and program licensure with the Texas Workforce Commission-Career Schools and Colleges.Provides academic advising and career-related counseling for students which includes monitoring student retention, identifying and assisting at-risk students.Develops effective teaching strategies and program assessment methods.Manages tasks assigned by the school director. These include new student orientation, open houses, accreditation preparation, campus events, and staff supervision.Key Success FactorsCurrent or previous Cardiovascular Perfusion's certification highly preferred.Knowledge for the daily operations, including organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and general effectiveness of the program.Knowledge in maintaining proficiency in cardiovascular perfusion trends, issues and practices.Ability to recruit, counsel and assist students with program enrollment and academic advice.Educate students in the cognitive domain on cardiovascular perfusion using strong interpersonal, oral, listening, and written communication skills.Use audiovisual (A/V) equipment, heart models, and pathology specimens. Employ other teaching tools for psychomotor skills in clinical perfusion training in the operating room (OR).Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to define and refine a cardiovascular perfusion course’s content.Use computers and MS Office programs like PowerPoint, Excel, and Word for teaching and documentation.Ability to develop community contacts to assist with job placement, externship site set-up, community involvement, and student orientation.Ability to engage in retention activities, including documented communication with both students and administration regarding attendance and progress.Implements a plan for continuous self-assessment of the Cardiovascular Perfusion program.Licensed Perfusionist or Certified Clinical Perfusionist preferred.Belonging StatementWe believe that all people should feel welcomed, valued and supported.

EDUCATION - Bachelor'sEXPERIENCE - 5 Years of ExperienceCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
