Position TitleCardiology Procedure NurseDays - Part TimeIndian Creek Medical Plaza 3, Shawnee ClinicPosition Summary / Career Interest:The Cardiovascular ambulatory procedure department is a dynamic, patient-focused environment where nurses collaborate to deliver a variety of cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures including but not limited to nuclear and echo stress testing. This role demands adaptability, teamwork, and a commitment to exceptional patient care.
Location: Overland Park and Switzer offices. Occasional travel to the main KU location may be required.
Hours: 3 x9 hours shifts/week required. No weekends or holidays
The Cardiology Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for the comfort and well-being of patients. Carries out a plan of care specific to unit competencies for the target patient population. Coordinates care deliver through collaboration with all health care team providers to ensure safe, effective and quality patient care.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
Care and Assessment: Conducts comprehensive pre-procedure patient assessments and chart reviews. Provides clear and concise pre- and post-procedure education to patients and caregivers. Monitors patient condition and EKG during stress testing, initiating appropriate interventions as needed. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Effectively collaborate with physicians, sonographers, nuclear technologists and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care. Maintains open and effective communication with the care team regarding patient status, test results, cancellations, and care plans. Procedural Support: Perform essential patient care tasks including but not limited to, IV access, laboratory draws, stress testing, and point-of-care testing. Ensure adherence to radiation safety protocols. Workflow Management: Facilitate efficient patient flow through the procedural area. Identify and escalate patient condition changes to appropriate staff. Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate competency in operating and monitoring equipment for various stress testing modalities (echo, nuclear, bike, treadmill, pharmaceutical). Proficiency with electronic medical record documentation and EKG and dysrhythmia management.Critically evaluate emergency situations and initiate appropriate intervention; collaborates with physician for recommendations to address patient’s problems or questions.Perform venipunctures and perform EKG’s when necessary.Communicate with appropriate outpatient cardiology staff for outpatient management.Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.These statements are intended to describe the essential functions of the job and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.
