Job Summary
Summary<br>A healthcare professional specially trained to use imaging technology for diagnosing heart problems in patients.<br><br>Does this position require Patient Care?<br>Yes<br><br>Essential Functions<br>-Oversee the performance of echocardiogram tests to obtain crucial data about patients. <br>-Oversee the analysis of blood flow, valve function, and chamber size to determine the overall heart condition. <br>
-May assist physicians in diagnosing patients with heart conditions. <br>
-Accurately record patient data and test results. <br>
-Oversee the handling of administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments or the cleaning equipment. <br>
-May operate ultrasound equipment to capture moving 2-D or 3-D images of the heart and its chambers. <br>

Fetal Echocardiography Specialty [FE] - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) preferred Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer [RDCS] - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) preferred Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer [RDMS] - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) preferred Certified Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) preferred
Experience
Two (2) years of cardiovascular imaging experience. 2-3 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and disease.
- Ability to operate ultrasound equipment utilizing a variety of possible techniques, including M-mode, two-dimensional, pulsed and continuous wave Doppler flow mapping.
- Ability to perform examinations, recognizing the significance of all structures that are visualized, differentiating artifacts from appropriate images, while recognizing the limitations of equipment and utilizing knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to perform echo and vascular sonography studies including complex studies: stress echocardiography, dobutamine echocardiography, and transesophageal echocardiography examinations.
- Demonstrate flexibility performing tests/scans in a variety of clinical environments.
- Ability to educate patients and families of safe and appropriate testing; thoroughly explaining procedures, answering questions and calming concerns.
- Ability to make knowledgeable clinical assessments and judgments.
