Position Overview
Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Cardiac Sonographer I to join our Cardiology and Imaging Services team at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Brenham. This flexible PRN position offers 4–8 hours per week, primarily on weekdays, with occasional Saturday coverage.
In this role, you will perform comprehensive echocardiography services for both scheduled and add-on inpatients and outpatients, supporting high-quality cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment.
What You’ll Do
Perform diagnostic echocardiograms in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols.
Conduct bubble studies, stress echocardiograms, and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE).
Acquire high-quality cardiac images using Philips Epiq CVx 3D ultrasound systems.
Perform exams for both scheduled and add-on inpatient and outpatient populations.
Prepare and position patients to ensure comfort, safety, and optimal image acquisition.
Utilize AIDET communication to explain procedures and ease patient anxiety.
Verify clinical indications, patient history, and test requirements prior to exams.
Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and quality standards.
Accurately document procedures and findings in PACS and EMR systems.
Maintain ultrasound equipment and report technical concerns promptly.
Support departmental workflow and assist with PRN coverage as needed.
Key Success Factors
Strong knowledge of echocardiography techniques, protocols, and cardiac anatomy.
Ability to perform bubble studies, TEE, and stress echocardiography with accuracy.
Experience operating Philips Epiq CVx 3D ultrasound equipment.
Excellent patient communication and professional bedside manner.
Strong organizational skills and adaptability in a PRN environment.
Ability to manage inpatient and outpatient workflows efficiently.

QualificationsEducation
Graduate of an Accredited Cardiac Sonography Program
OR
Two (2) years of relevant work experience above minimum qualifications
ExperienceLess than one (1) year of experience required
Hospital or cardiology clinic experience preferred
Certification / LicensureBasic Life Support (BLS) – Required within 30 days of hire/transfer
Must obtain one of the following within six (6) months of hire/transfer:
RDCS – Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (ARDMS)
RCS – Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CC
