Cardiac Device Specialist

As a Cardiac Device Specialist, you will provide regular professional care to patients undergoing assessment of cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIED) in both outpatient and inpatient environments. This includes safe and thorough evaluation, testing, and interpretation of patients with Pacemakers, ICDs, and loop recorders in-clinic and remote follow ups. This position is essential to the treatment and well-being of patients, allowing you to utilize your skills and knowledge to enhance their lives, health and overall outcomes. **A caregiver in this position works days from 8:30AM - 5:00PM.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform interrogation, interpretations, and programming of established CIEDs for ambulatory and hospitalized patients. + Provide professional care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services to outpatient and hospitalized patients in a variety of healthcare settings. + Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care consistent with CCHS policies and procedures. + Assist with specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical department and medical specialty assigned. + Participate in education, research and performance improvement activities. Provide health education to patients and families. + Develop, evaluate, adapt and document education to meet learning needs and abilities of patients and families. + Assist in the preparation of department specific education for patients and colleagues. + Maintain core competency (CPR and device knowledge). + Analyze and edit EKG recordings; generates reports including EKG strips. + Notify device RN staff, APP, or physicians of abnormal heart rhythms and patients with significant clinical symptoms; assists patients with securing medical assistance. + Assist with the scheduling of the device replacement procedure. + Collaborate with device nurses. + Review and document on remote transmissions for CIEDs. Takes appropriate action if anything is out of range. + Evaluate safely and thoroughly all patients in clinic with CIEDs for device status, function, and patient response to pacing. + Other duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Bachelor degree preferred in a field related to science or physical health. + Certificate of completion for formal cardiac device training program required. + Certificate of completion for formal cardiac device training program or 5 years' experience with cardiac devices may offset the training program. + Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Two years of relevant experience in healthcare field preferred. + Current demonstrated clinical competence. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
