BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTIONThe goal of CIBC’s Capital Markets business is to be the premier client-focused Capital Markets group based in Canada. To deliver on this, the capital markets arm of CIBC provides a wide range of credit, capital markets, investment banking, merchant banking and research products and services to government, institutional, corporate and retail clients in Canada and in key markets around the world.
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Global Equities and Cross Asset Derivatives Pod Lead, the Data Management & AI Governance Specialist will be part of a dynamic and innovative team at the forefront of data management and AI governance for Capital Markets.
As a key contributor, you will drive the governance of AI solutions, and quality and strategic use of data for Global Equities and Cross Asset Derivatives, ensuring our AI solutions and data assets deliver maximum business value. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data and AI governance in Capital Markets.
The role will collaborate closely with Front Office business and technology stakeholders and play a key role in shaping data-driven decision-making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Governance Program Delivery
Lead data management delivery of priority datasets, collaborating with business analysts, subject matter experts, and technology leads.
Define in-scope data assets, identify critical data elements (CDEs), map to business glossaries, and propose new terms as needed.
Analyze and profile data, define and document business data quality rules, create and refine executable DQ rules, and review results with stakeholders.
Identify data sources and consumers, and ensure robust controls for internal and external data access and sharing.
AI & Technology Enablement
Build and maintain tools for Metadata Management, Data Quality and Data Sharing.
Leverage technology and AI tools to identify, define, and ensure the quality of critical data.
Automate data cleaning, preprocessing, and dashboarding using Python, SQL, PySpark, Power BI, or similar tools.
Business Liaison, Thought Leadership & Strategy
Advise business partners on AI Governance and Data Management best practices.
Lead discussions on data management strategy and design.
Provide expert guidance to data teams and collaborate with other divisions and external partners.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Capital Markets OTC Derivatives Knowledge
Strong understanding of OTC Derivatives (at least one asset class) ideally with experience in change initiatives or working directly with the trading desks
Understanding of business products, and trade lifecycle and pricing.
Data Analysis & Management
Experience working with large datasets to identify trends and insights.
Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel).
Understanding of metadata management, data quality and data access management.
Technology and AI Tools
Ability to use technology and AI tools for data quality and management.
Programming experience in SQL, Python, or similar languages for data analysis and manipulation.
Knowledge of Databricks, MS Lists, MS Power Automate, Great Expectations, ydata-profiling, Pandas, Plotly, or SciPy is an asset.

Passion for data and technology, with a continuous learning mindset.
Strong team player, adaptable, and able to work independently.
Ability to become quickly proficient in new processes and domains.
Good communication, problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hybrid working model with 3 days a week in the office.
Under normal conditions, this role operates within an office environment with little exposure to adverse working conditions. Open concept office environment with exposure to noise and distractions.
