Amazon is seeking a Finance Manager to partner with our Global Workplace Health and Safety (WHO) Organization on the path to becoming Earth's Safest Place to Work!
This role will support global efforts across a diverse range of safety initiatives within the Amazon Operations Network. In this role, you will support one of the most impactful teams, where customer obsession is focused on the safety of our associates. You will work with a broad team of program and product managers, as well as finance professionals across operations and accounting, to create mechanisms and processes that influence safety strategy and drive investment decisions across the company to drive improvements in Amazon's safety standards (both internal and external).
As a member of this team, you will be pivotal to the organization's success as you partner with multiple functions across Amazon to maintain and expand financial controls, guide best-in-practice investment prioritization frameworks and influence a growing business's organizational design.
Success in this role requires you to partner with and influence program managers and finance teams, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to an ever-changing environment. You will collaborate with all types of stakeholders, including Operations and Finance leaders across the organization, partner teams such as Legal and Human Resources, as well as engineering and design teams, as we build our next generation technology with safety at the forefront. You bring strong business partnership skills while providing critical controllership and strategic process management. You use judgment to prioritize high-priority work and projects that maximize results for key stakeholders, while solving complex problems that affect company-wide decisions at the most senior level of the company.
Key job responsibilities
- Owns the Safety Capital Request process across teams and drives towards best-in-class mechanisms for investment approvals and tracking.
- Partner with program managers and finance teams to develop and monitor annual, quarterly, and monthly financial plans.
- Partner with Safety teams and Operations Finance to support quarterly fixed asset and safety hours controls processes.
- Support financial planning and reporting processes for Safety capital expenditure portfolio.
- Identify opportunities to improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance or business tools and processes.
- Collect and analyze quantitative data to develop relevant reports that drive leadership accountability, action and continuous improvement.
- Participates in developing and mentoring peers and team members. Seeks and leverages diverse perspectives in all activities.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
- 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, or CPA
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
