Your work will directly support cancer research, treatment planning, and program accreditation. You’ll be part of a team that values precision, collaboration, and continuous improvement—making a real difference in the lives of patients and providers.


 

Job Summary

Identify and track cancer cases using pathology reports, medical indices, and oncology databases—ensuring compliance with the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) and State Cancer Registry standards.

Abstract and code cases using specialized rules (MPH, STR, HLN) to distinguish new diagnoses, assign histology codes, and maintain data integrity.

Perform follow-up activities by reviewing inpatient and outpatient records and coordinating with physicians, institutions, and patients to gather updates.

Support cancer conferences and committees by organizing resources, sending notifications, providing technical assistance, and documenting proceedings.

Ensure data accuracy by identifying discrepancies, correcting abstracts, and resolving validation issues—escalating complex cases to the registry manager when needed.


 

Qualifications

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?

Licenses and Credentials
Certified Tumor Registrar (National) [CTR] - National Cancer Registrars Association preferred

Experience
-Previous cancer registrar experience 3-5 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of most Microsoft Office Products at a level of moderate competency.
- Familiarity of cancer registry software, with special emphasis on Elekta Impact products.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records.
