Business Unit/Role Specific Information
American Express National Bank (AENB): American Express’ chartered national bank. Headquartered in Utah, AENB is the single largest entity within American Express’ business, currently representing more than 50 percent of the Company’s Card Member Spending, nearly 90 percent of its lending and more than 60 percent its of revenues. AENB provides its customers with access to consistent payments, financing and savings products in three ways, including issuing and servicing charge and credit cards for our consumer and small business segments, offering commercial loans to small and midsized merchants, as well as installment loans to consumers; and maintaining a Personal Savings program consisting of high-yield savings accounts and certificate of deposit products.
The Enterprise Affiliate Management Center of Excellence (EAM COE) leads the governance, contracting, relationship management, reporting and quality assurance for affiliate services, ensuring compliance with third-party risk management standards and regulatory expectations.
Enterprise Affiliate & American Express National Bank Governance: The team is responsible for the Enterprise & Affiliate Management programs and a Regulatory Operations team responsible for FDIC 370 Governance, AENB Legal Entity Governance, Regulation O, the Enterprise Consecutive Absence Program, and other regulatory operations.How will you make an impact in this role?
The ideal candidate will play a key supporting role across multiple teams within Affiliate Management, gaining hands-on experience in the five phases of the third-party cycle including but not limited to: establishing and maintaining affiliate contracts, ongoing validation and governance, monitoring and performance reporting, and quality assurance. The candidate will also support other regulatory and governance processes. Responsibilities include:
Capture and analyze information from a wide array of sources; identify trends and articulate decisions clearly. Demonstrate strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities in a dynamic, data-driven manner. Assist with the development and testing of tools and systems used to manage affiliate relationships and operational risk processes Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business continuity planning, control testing, and records management. Track progress, validate resolution efficiency, and communicate status updates to collaborators frequently and candidly. Support the end-to-end third-party lifecycle for affiliate engagements such as reviewing enterprise & AENB agreements, implementing risk-based due diligence activities, monitoring adherence to AXP policies and regulatory requirements, supporting monitoring and performance reporting, and completing quality assurance and testing. Contribute to ad-hoc projects related to regulatory and operational risk programs and initiatives (i.e., root cause analysis and identification of solutions, data & trend analysis, implementing system enhancements and new reporting capabilities).Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Finance, Economics, Business, Risk Management, Data Analytics, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree candidates with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and superior organizational and follow through skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word). Excellent communication and collaboration skills within a team-oriented, matrix organization. Effectively works independently within a team construct while supporting teamwork and achievement of team objectives.Preferred Qualifications
Understanding and knowledge of Global Systemically Important Banks (GSIBs) and corporate organization structure. Experience using reporting tools and data analytics to recommend innovative solutions or systems to streamline processes. Curiosity surrounding risk management and/or third-party and affiliate management. Experience with data analytics, reporting tools, AI tools or automation. Demonstrated interest or exposure in regulatory compliance and/or risk management, legal studies, contract management, or business negotiations.Salary Range: $24.05 to $63.00 hourly + sign-on bonus
