CMO LP is owned by Eagle Lake, Gakijiwanong Anishinaabe Nation (formerly Lac La Croix First Nation), Fort William, Seine River, Lac Seul and Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nations and Ojibway Nation of Saugeen.  This partnership is rooted in the shared values of cultural preservation, community well-being and sustainable development and aims to harness the opportunities presented by the Waasigan Project.   Through mutual understanding and collaboration we aim to support social-economic growth by offering meaningful employment and economic benefits for partner communities and individuals. 

Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB?

The Camp Maintenance Worker is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely maintenance of all camp facilities, infrastructure, and equipment. This hands-on role includes a wide range of tasks including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, minor repairs, and responding to emergency issues to ensure continuous operations in a remote camp environment. The ideal candidate is a versatile, safety-conscious professional with broad trade knowledge and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.

The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with the following amenities:

Key responsibilities include:

General Maintenance & Repairs

Perform all site-wide building-related maintenance and complete assigned projects from the Camp Coordinator or Supervisor.Conduct routine inspections and complete preventative maintenance on buildings, appliances, and infrastructure.Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.Carry out drywall, carpentry, painting, and general repair work as needed.Maintain HVAC systems and gas-fired appliances in good working condition.

Equipment & System Upkeep

Support the operation and maintenance of diesel generators, sump/lift stations, and camp utilities.Maintain, inspect, and repair kitchen appliances (fridges, stoves, dishwashers, fryers), laundry machines, and other essential equipment.Monitor and maintain fire alarms, emergency lights, and safety equipment across camp.

Site Services

Perform snow removal, sanding, de-icing, and seasonal outdoor maintenance around buildings and access points.Operate small machinery and equipment such as skid-steer loaders when required.Ensure the upkeep of exterior structures such as stairs, walkways, and decks.

Emergency & Safety Response

Respond promptly to urgent repair needs, including power outages, leaks, and equipment failures.Ensure systems and repairs comply with safety regulations and internal policies.Conduct fire safety inspections and participate in emergency preparedness procedures.

Administrative & Reporting Duties

Document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment usage in accordance with company procedures.Use maintenance tracking tools and inventory systems to log work and report deficiencies.Coordinate with camp departments to minimize downtime and support smooth operations.

 

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Required:

Several years of experience as a general maintenance technician or equivalent hands-on role.Ability to lift 50 lbs, work at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions.Valid and current full G/Class 5 or higher driver’s license with a clean driving record.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a practical, proactive mindset.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in remote or unsupervised conditions.Personal transportation required for transit to/from departure hubs.

Preferred:

Trade certification (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or refrigeration).Experience operating skid-steer loaders or similar light equipment.Familiarity with maintenance reporting systems (digital or manual).Working at Heights, First Aid with CPR, or other relevant safety certifications.Experience working in remote, rotational, or fly-in/fly-out camp environments.

Work schedule and remuneration: 

Maintenance Workers work on a rotational schedule of 3 weeks on/3 weeks off. Site locations are in remote settings, requiring either air travel to site, or via ground on our shuttle. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on a daily basis ranging from $300.00 - $335.00, dependent on skillset and experience.
