D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for aCamp Director. The right candidate is responsible for the overall planning, administration, and operation of our West Texas Children’s Camp. Our camp offers an array of camper-friendly activities, including ATV trail rides, swimming, fishing, hiking, and competitive games while instilling good manners and vital life skills in campers aged 9-13. This role ensures a safe, engaging and inclusive experience for all campers and staff. During the off-season, the Camp Director provides administrative support for Camp Horton, our Fort Stockton Ranches, and Corporate Resources from our Corporate office located in Arlington, TX.

The ideal candidate excels at multitasking and has a genuine passion for empowering young minds. They embody patience, enthusiasm, and confidence while guiding and motivating camp staff and campers. Our goal is to create an environment where kids can simply be kids, and we believe an outstanding Camp Director makes that possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Camp Season (May–July)

Direct and oversee all aspects of camp operations including but not limited to programming, staff supervision and ensuring the well-being of all participantsRecruit, hire, train, and manage seasonal camp staffImplement safety procedures, risk management strategies, and emergency protocolsCoordinate camp schedules, activities, and special eventsManage camper registration, discipline, and parent communicationsOversee camp budgets and purchasing to ensure efficient use of resourcesMaintain all necessary licensing, certifications, and compliance with local and state regulationsServe as the on-site representative for D. R. Horton’s mission, values, and standards

Off-Season (August–April)

Perform administrative duties for camp, ranch operations, and the corporate officeAssist with planning, budgeting, staffing and strategic development for future camp/hunting seasonsProvide scheduling, reporting, and project management supportMonitor vendor contracts, facility maintenance, and resource allocationMaintain all necessary operational, employee, financial and compliance recordsServe as the primary point of contact for all ranch/camp staff, vendors and corporate stakeholdersSupport personnel and payroll processes as needed for camp/ranch staffDevelop long-term plans for the ranch's operations and growthConduct all business in a professional and ethical manner, with clear communication and collaboration, to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyAbility to travel overnight

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in recreation management, education, business administration, or a related fieldMinimum of 3 years of leadership experience in camp, youth programming, or hospitality managementDemonstrated administrative, budgeting, and organizational skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills are requiredAdvanced computer skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new programs/systems quickly is essentialPhysical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to use camp vehicles to transport staff, campers and navigate between ranches

Preferred Qualifications

Current certifications in CPR/First AidWillingness to relocate to Fort Stockton during camp season (2 Months) and work at the Arlington office during the off-seasonDesire and ability to work with children in an outdoor setting
