CAE Engineer
Job Description

DUTIES:                                 Perform structural analysis on exterior components and sub-systems. Use FEA and other analysis methods to assess component designs. Lead CAE suppliers and internal resources to meet program milestones and deliverables. Analysis is focused on design optimization to meet safety regulations and customer usage. Work interactively with the PDT to share analysis results, provide design recommendations, and ensure product requirements. Perform and coordinate resources for virtual assessment of designs and compare results to performance requirements. Recommend viable design solutions to resolve any performance issues. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assure balance of vehicle structure requirements and design solutions. Responsible for Virtual Assessment presentations for program management and formal CAE report documentation as required. Stay abreast of new technology, competitive products, and latest CAE tools/trends. Perform structural analysis (linear, non-linear) on exterior components and subsystems. Use FEA and other analysis methods to assess component designs. Create and execute Finite Element Analysis (FEA) plans for assigned projects. Lead CAE suppliers and internal resources to meet program milestones and deliverables. Interface with SMT, validation, aero, structure integration, N&V, and safety integration engineers to assure balance of vehicle structure requirements and design solutions. Utilize various optimization techniques to identify architectural load paths to close the gap to requirements and implement enablers into the math released. Plan and implement test and development programs to enhance CAE capability. Recommend process automators and CAE enhancements for CAE modeling software and solvers. Assist in developing new CAE techniques to support 100% Virtual Validation. Use CAE to explain results of physical testing and engineer solutions to resolve issues with validation and release engineers. Recommend viable design solutions to resolve any Exterior performance issues with mass and cost efficiency. Responsible for Virtual Assessment presentations for program management and formal CAE report documentation as required. Participate in Product Development Teams (PDTs) to provide technical guidance based on CAE assessments. Act as program lead for Exterior VDDV team to strategize, direct, document, and help execute all necessary virtual development and validation work to support a program(s) specifically Full-Size Trucks. Lead communication and provide direction to all supporting VDDV engineers and interfacing teams including SMT, Validation, VPIM, and CAD Design. Support and lead SAFe scrum teams and document/plan work in ADO. Lead and represent Exterior VDDV team for program VVA reviews and all SAFe-related program activities. Stay abreast of new technology, competitive products, and latest CAE tools/trends. Play a very active role in developing CAE resources globally including focus groups and direct communication. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office. 10% travel to client sites domestically.                                                                                                                                 



Additional Job Description

REQUIREMENTS:                 Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field of study. Three (3) years of experience as a CAE Development Engineer, Project Engineer, or related occupation.  Must have three (3) years of experience in the following: Linear Analysis including NASTRAN, OPTISTRUCT, and Non-Linear Analysis to assess system, subsystem, and component performance; Noise and vibration, durability analysis, extreme durability events; CAE optimization methods and design of experiments; Material Properties as inputs to CAE analysis; UG-NX CAD tools; CAE modeling tools including ANSA and Hypermesh; and MS Office applications.
