We are seeking an Entry‑Level Fiber Optic Assembler to join our production team. This role involves precision assembly of fiber optic cables and components used in medical and specialty lighting applications. Ideal candidates excel in detail‑oriented work, have strong manual dexterity, and enjoy hands‑on, precise assembly tasks.
Job DescriptionAs a Fiber Optic Assembler, you will be responsible for building simple fiber optic cables using detailed work instructions and engineering drawings. This includes:
Sizing, hosing, randomizing, applying end tips, epoxying, cleaning, and labeling finished products.Reading and understanding Work Orders and Drawings to ensure accurate assembly.Working with bundles of fiber optic strands roughly the width of a human hair, using tools such as tweezers and magnification equipment.Inspecting fiber bundles by shining light through them to identify breaks (dark spots) and sorting fibers accordingly.Placing fiber bundles into cable housings and applying epoxy‑bonded end tips to complete the assembly.Cleaning components and maintaining cleanliness standards throughout the process.Inspecting and testing components for defects, damage, or contamination to ensure product quality.Key ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret Work Orders, Drawings, and assembly documentation.Perform precision assembly of fiber optic cables, connectors, and related components following established procedures.Handle delicate fiber strands with extreme care to prevent damage and ensure proper alignment.Prepare, clean, and assemble components per engineering and quality requirements.Conduct visual inspections and testing to detect defects or quality issues.Maintain accurate assembly and inspection records.Work collaboratively with production and quality teams to meet daily goals.Required Skills & QualificationsAbility to read and understand technical drawings and Work Orders.Ability to read a tape measure and work with basic measurement tools.Strong manual dexterity and ability to work with very small components under magnification.High level of attention to detail and quality focus.Familiarity with hand tools and basic assembly practices.Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.Understanding of basic quality assurance principles and inspection techniques (preferred but not required).Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)Experience in medical device assembly, micro‑assembly, or cleanroom production.Experiencewith fiber optics, cable assembly, or small‑parts production.Familiarity with fiber optic testing tools.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL.
