Our Buying team, in partnership with our Designers, Planners and Global Sourcing team are critical to delivering our business strategy and the success of Kmart.
As a Buyer in Children’s Footwear working for Kmart, you are instrumental in sourcing the best possible products that bring meaningful moments into our customers lives.
We are passionate about providing stylish and comfortable footwear for children and to combine fashion with functionality, in every step our young customers take. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Buyer to join our team and help us continue to deliver on our promise.
Key Responsibilities:
• Commercial Acumen: Develop and implement buying strategies that align with our commercial goals, ensuring profitability and market competitiveness.
• Value Proposition Strategy: Identify and source products that meet our value proposition, balancing quality, cost, and customer satisfaction.
• Trade Execution: Successfully execute trade plans, including negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and ensuring timely product delivery.
• Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to stay ahead of trends and understand customer needs, ensuring our product range is always relevant and appealing.
• Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring the best terms and conditions for our business.
• Performance Monitoring: Track and analyse sales performance, making data-driven decisions to optimize product assortment and maximize sales.
• Developing ranges to establish the appropriate balance of Price, Volume, basics, quality, innovation and trend to deliver strong category growth.
• Ability to recognise and interpret trends and build ranges to ensure consistent brand handwriting.
• Using commercial skills, combined with the ability to analyse customer's needs and research to effectively deliver long term strategic growth.
• Managing the end -to-end Critical Path process across functions to meet instore dates.
• Managing and using strategies to achieve the financial plans including sales, profit and stock turn.

What you’ll be doing
To be successful in this role:
We're looking for a driven, efficient, and enthusiastic individual who will bring a curious mind-set and a passion for all things Kids Footwear Fashion! You love delivering product, customers are always front of mind and building and managing relationships with a variety of key stakeholders is one of your strengths. We'd also love you to have:
• Proven experience as a Buyer in the retail industry, preferably in children's footwear.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with a track record of driving profitable growth.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
• Proficiency in market analysis and trend forecasting.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Passion for children's fashion and footwear.
• Commercial focus working in a dynamic fast paced team.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven success driving category growth and delivering increased profit.
