Job Description

The Buyer supports the purchasing team by managing data, coordinating purchase orders, and maintaining accurate inventory information to ensure timely and cost-effective supply of materials. This role analyzes purchasing trends, collaborates closely with order management, and communicates with suppliers to confirm pricing, shipments, and delivery schedules.

Purchasing & Purchase Order Management

Review, create, update, and maintain purchase orders to ensure accuracy in pricing, quantities, and delivery dates

Track open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on‑time delivery

Resolve discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, invoices, or shipments

Vendor Communication & Supplier Support

Serve as a primary point of contact for vendor communication, addressing order status, lead times, and delivery issues

Build and maintain productive supplier relationships to support consistent supply and service

Assist with sourcing new suppliers and maintaining approved vendor information

Data, Analysis & Reporting

Analyze purchase data and industry trends to identify opportunities for cost savings, improved availability, or process efficiencies

Support reporting related to purchasing activity, spend trends, and supplier performance

Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation within ERP or procurement systems

Required Qualifications

1+ years of experience in a Buyer or purchasing role

Experience reviewing and managing purchase orders

Strong communication skills for working with vendors and internal stakeholders

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with Excel experience required

Familiarity with ERP or purchasing systems

Work Environment

This is a contract role with potential for conversion to a longer-term opportunity, offering the chance to grow with a company that serves construction, mining, forklift, and machinery markets. The organization is in the process of moving into a new plant located on a lakefront harbor area across from a major university, with access to amenities such as cafés, a coffee shop, and a gym nearby. The Buyer works in a collaborative office and operations environment, using ERP and SAP systems and interacting regularly with purchasing, order management, and supply chain teams

This is a Contract position based out of Milwaukee, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
