Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Buyer to join our team. This role involves managing a purchasing deck within Service Parts for a renowned automotive customer service division. The position supports the Indirect/Packaging organization, focusing on negotiating services, program management, and market testing to find the best value.

Responsibilities

Manage purchasing activities for goods, materials, components, or services, ensuring alignment with cost, quality, and delivery targets.Support the purchasing function and collaborate with relevant departments to address any supply issues impacting business operations.Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal departments concerning purchasing processes and new projects.Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and supplier performance to identify risks or opportunities.Analyze costs and review cost reduction activities, providing insights for continuous business improvements.Negotiate contracts and improve pricing and business terms with suppliers, seeking opportunities for business savings.Build and maintain supplier relationships, ensuring effective communication.Conduct research for new components and suppliers, compiling data for supplier performance evaluation.Resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues with suppliers.Address supplier shortages and past-due situations.Update and maintain commodity strategies.Develop cost estimates for savings negotiations and mitigate supplier uplift requests.Produce weekly reports, charts, and status updates on open assignments and projects.Perform market tests, analyze responses, and manage sourcing of parts.Review open vehicles off road (VOR) and backorders, expediting parts delivery as necessary.

Essential Skills

3+ years of experience in Commodity Purchasing within the automotive industry (preferably OEM, Tier 1).3+ years of experience in analyzing cost breakdowns and market testing with a strong analytical skill set.Experience in providing recommendations based on data-driven findings for vendor selection and sourcing.Strong communication skills.Bachelor's Degree.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Strong negotiation skills.Proficiency in Ariba and S4/SAP.Must complete Excel Normal User Test with a score of 80% or higher.

This is a Contract position based out of Dearborn, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $55.00/hr.
